Wellness Center
Wimberley High School utilizes the Wellness Center as part of its school-wide guidance counseling program. All students at Wimberley High School have the opportunity to utilize the Wellness Center at the discretion of their teachers or during lunch or Texan Time. The Wellness Center’s mission is to serve as a bridge for students who need time-limited support to return to the academic setting. The Wellness Center provides a safe space to talk to a trusted adult, psychoeducational lessons, a quiet space for a snack or self-regulation, and research-based short-term interventions to improve academic and social outcomes. The Wellness Center can also provide outside referrals for more intensive support with parent or guardian permission or by request as needed. The Wellness Center is a tier 1 intervention and part of WISD’s safe and supportive schools initiative. Appropriate notification will be made immediately if any student is in danger or any type of abuse is reported as outlined in the American School Counselor Association Ethical Standards. Grade and attendance data as well as a team approach with appropriate stakeholders (teachers, students, families, and Wellness Center staff), will be utilized to ensure academic success remains the top priority for all students.

Mrs. Myers has had the pleasure of serving as a WHS teacher since 2019 and has been in education for 8 years. She is passionate about utilizing a strengths-based approach to help every student reach their full potential. She also enjoys being the campus lead for WISD's Texan Roots program and promoting teacher and staff wellness.
The Wellness Center Coordinator, along with other Wellness Center staff members, and as part of the WHS counseling team, will act as a bridge for students who need time-limited support to return to the academic setting. This support could come in the form of a brain break, a space for self-regulation, psychoeducational lessons, research-based short-term interventions to improve academic and social outcomes, or a link to more intensive community support and/or referrals. The Wellness Center Coordinator will collaborate confidentially and appropriately with other stakeholders in the success of students, as defined by the ASCA ethical standards. Stakeholders can include parents, other counselors, administrators, teachers, and community members. The Wellness Center Coordinator leads WHS Texan Roots character education curriculum as written by the local curriculum writing team and mandated by Senate Bill 123. This guidance curriculum will include direct instruction in goal setting, problem-solving, decision-making, and other skills from a classroom teacher, student-leader, administrator, or outside community member/expert. The Wellness Center’s role in supporting students is a broadly based tier 1 intervention applicable and appropriate for all high school students and directly related to the “responsive services,” “guidance curriculum,” and “system support” sections of the Texas Model for Comprehensive School Counseling Programs.
